The Cocoon

Neila Washington, a 17-year-old transgender truant, seeks refuge inside a town-sized silk cocoon that sprang into existence atop a suburban cul-de-sac in Ohio. They think their only chance at convincing their republican mother to accept their queer identity is by proving their worth — hunting down the three monsters that guard the cocoon. But when they start transforming into a monster themself, will they pluck out their wings and hair to become “normal” again, or accept the monsters’ friendship and let go of the desire for their mother’s approval?
